2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards Event Recap (Event Pics)

The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, held on April 1 at the prestigious Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, marked a celebration of musical excellence from the past year and the anticipation of summer hits to come. Hosted by Ludacris, the star-studded event aired live on FOX and was broadcasted across iHeartRadio stations nationwide as well as on the iHeartRadio app, ensuring music enthusiasts across the country could partake in the festivities.

The evening kicked off with an electrifying performance by Justin Timberlake, who set the stage on fire with his hits “Selfish” and “No Angels,” before exchanging a high-five with his *NSYNC bandmate Lance Bass in the front row. Ludacris, the affable host, warmed up the audience with a shoutout to his mother and reminisced about his roots in Atlanta radio.

The lineup of performances throughout the night was nothing short of stellar. Green Day took to the stage to deliver iconic renditions of “Bobby Sox” and “Basket Case,” while TLC captivated the crowd with their timeless hits “No Scrubs” and “Waterfalls.” Tate McRae wowed with her mesmerizing vocals and choreography, while Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson’s emotional performance of “Save Me” left a lasting impression.

Special musical tributes were paid to the evening’s honorees. Jennifer Hudson delivered a soul-stirring rendition of Cher’s classic “Believe,” as the legendary artist was presented with the prestigious iHeartRadio Icon Award for her unparalleled contributions to music and pop culture spanning over seven decades. Beyoncé, recognized with the iHeartRadio Innovator Award, was celebrated for her bold creative ventures and profound influence on contemporary culture.

The awards ceremony also saw memorable moments of recognition and acceptance speeches. Ice Spice, winner of Best New Artist (Hip Hop), delivered a spirited speech encouraging aspiring artists to persevere in the face of adversity. SZA graciously accepted her award for Best R&B Artist, acknowledging the significance of having her music recognized on the radio. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, crowned Artist of the Year, expressed her gratitude to her fans and excitement for her upcoming album.

The evening was not without its share of surprises and special guests. Avril Lavigne introduced Green Day’s performance, while Meryl Streep shared fond memories of working with Cher before presenting her with the iHeartRadio Icon Award. Stevie Wonder paid tribute to Beyoncé, highlighting her remarkable career journey, while Jared Leto presented the Alternative Artist of the Year award to Fall Out Boy.

In addition to the musical performances and awards presentations, the iHeartRadio Music Awards also featured socially voted categories, recognizing fan favorites in various aspects of music and entertainment. From Best Music Video to Favorite Fan Army, these categories provided an opportunity for fans to actively participate in honoring their beloved artists and moments.

As the night drew to a close, Ludacris took to the stage for a rousing finale, performing his hit songs “All I Do Is Win,” “Yeah,” and “Move B****.” With the echoes of music still resonating in the air, the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards came to an end, leaving behind memories of a spectacular celebration of music’s enduring power and influence.
