A 3-year-old was found sleeping on a sidewalk while the mother was at a nightclub. A May 1 news release by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said the three-year-old was discovered on Saturday, April 30, in Fort Walton Beach. Fort Walton Beach is on the Florida Panhandle, about 160 miles southwest of Tallahassee.
“The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was called to Gibson Street around 1 a.m. Saturday … after a security officer found a three-year-old wrapped in a blanket asleep on a sidewalk,” the Choctaw Village Apartments was being patrolled by a security guard when the child was located.
48 two-story units make up the apartment complex located along a primarily residential street in north Fort Walton Beach.
Officials said a woman, 25, identified as the children’s mother, eventually returned to the apartment. Deputies questioned her.
