Robin Thicke and Pharrell lose lawsuit for Blurred Lines

Sending shockwaves through the music community, Marvin Gaye’s children Nona, Frankie and Marvin Gaye III, will receive $4 million in damages and $3.3 million of the profits from the song “Blurred Lines” a song the Gaye children site was a direct copy of their fathers’s 1977 smash “Got to Give it Up.” They will also receive  $9,000 in statutory damages, according to The New York Times.  The testimony of musicologists helped to secure the win . The original suit was for 25 Million. T.I. aka Clifford Harris was cleared in the suit. This will certainly create greater caution for artists using music from other songs.
