A24’s ‘Sing Sing’ Cast Returns to Prison for Heartfelt Screening (Video)

The formerly incarcerated stars of A24’s upcoming film SING SING returned to the historic, 200 year-old correctional facility last night, many for the first time since their release, for a special screening of the award-winning film which was followed by an emotional panel discussion with  Clarence ‘Divine Eye’ Maclin, Sean ‘Dino’ Johnson, as well as current RTA and Hudson Link participants Bill Walsh and Joel Herrera.

Interim Executive Director of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts Program (RTA) Leslie Lichter and her team helped to organize the event, which was also attended by Sing Sing’s Superintendent Marlyn Kopp and Commissioner of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) Daniel F. Martuscello II.

Directed by Greg Kwedar, SING SING is the stirring true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors.

The film premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and won the Audience Awards at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. SING SING will be released in select theaters on July 12, 2024 with a nationwide rollout to follow.
