Sony Music Publishing Wins Publisher of the Year at BMI 2025 R&B/Hip-Hop Awards

MTech recognized among BMI’s Top Producers

(Los Angeles, CA) – Sony Music Publishing and its songwriters were recognized with top honors at this year’s BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, held on August 28 in Los Angeles. Sony Music Publishing was recognized as 2025 Publisher of the Year, with SMP songwriters represented across 23 top-performing songs of the past year. 

Sounwave won this year’s R&B/Hip-Hop Song of the Year award thanks to his contributions across Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” He was also named BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Producer of the Year for his standout work on hits like Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria,” “6:16 in LA,” and for producing Lamar’s entire 2025 GNX album.  

Mike Dean was honored as Songwriter of the Year in recognition of his work on top songs including The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s“Popular,” “Type S**t” by Future, Metro Boomin, Travis Scott and Playboi Carti, and many others.

Additionally, MTech was recognized among the year’s top producers during the ceremony, marking his first-ever BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Producer Award.
