Actress and producer Tika Sumpter is expanding her storytelling reach with Adventures of Curiosity Cove, a new kids’ podcast that invites young listeners into a world filled with imagination, emotion, and discovery.

The show is now available on the iHeartRadio app and across major podcast platforms, where fans can already binge past episodes and catch the trailer for the next season.
Created and produced by Sumpter along with Nick Muscarella, Adventures of Curiosity Cove is part of The Black Effect Podcast Network, co-founded by Charlamagne Tha God and distributed by iHeartPodcasts. It’s the first children’s series under The Black Effect banner—a big step into the Kids & Family genre for the influential podcast brand.
At the heart of the show is Ella the Curious, a bright, inquisitive young girl who takes listeners through imaginative journeys packed with lessons on empathy, self-expression, and emotional growth.
Each episode explores a fresh adventure—whether it’s unraveling the mysteries of space or discovering the magic of “being the light.”
The podcast draws inspiration from Sumpter’s own children’s book, I Got It From My Mama, which celebrates the love and inspiration shared between a curious little girl and her mother.
The show carries that same warmth, focusing on social and emotional intelligence while creating stories where kids of color can see themselves represented.
Dollie S. Bishop, president of The Black Effect Podcast Network, explained the vision behind the project: “Our kids deserve stories that reflect their culture and help them understand their emotions in healthy ways. This partnership with Tika is about nurturing the emotional well-being and confidence of the next generation.”
For Sumpter, Adventures of Curiosity Cove is more than entertainment—it’s a way to bridge families through storytelling.
“Nick and I wanted to build a world where children can explore big feelings in fun, imaginative ways—and where parents can listen right alongside them,” she said. “We hope it sparks curiosity, emotional intelligence, and connection between kids and the grown-ups who love them.”
Outside of her podcasting ventures, Sumpter is also the founder of Yummy Tummy, a clean, multi-use skincare line designed for mothers from pregnancy through postpartum. Her next film project, Sisters In Italy—a rom-com developed with Tyler Perry for Amazon MGM Studios—marks Perry’s first time directing a film he didn’t write.
Co-written, co-produced, and starring Sumpter herself, the movie explores the joys and challenges of siblinghood, inspired by her own experience as the youngest child.
With Adventures of Curiosity Cove, Sumpter continues her mission to tell stories that empower, inspire, and connect—this time by nurturing curiosity and compassion in the next generation of listeners.
