Couple Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Their Glenview Home

In a shocking turn of events, a couple in Glenview found themselves the victims of a terrifying robbery right outside their home. The incident took place around 10:00 p.m. on a Monday night as Greg Pulos and Angie Beltz were returning from a dinner out in the city. What they thought was a normal night quickly turned into a life-threatening situation when three armed men approached them, pointing guns at their faces.

The Start of a Terrifying Encounter

As they pulled up to their home, the couple saw someone approaching them. Initially, they thought it might be one of their children or one of their children’s friends. Greg Pulos recalls that moment, “I thought it was our son or one of his friends. At first, I wasn’t startled. I just thought, oh, it’s one of the kids.” However, their relief was short-lived as the figure they saw wasn’t familiar, and soon it became clear that this was no ordinary encounter.

Within seconds, the man approached them at full speed, pointing a gun at them and shouting at them to “give him everything.” This was the moment when the couple realized the gravity of the situation—they were being robbed, and the threat of violence was all too real. “I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, is this how it’s going to end today?’” Angie recalled later, as the horror of the robbery unfolded.

Robbery at Gunpoint

The three men, all armed and seemingly determined, began to surround the couple. They were forced to comply, handing over everything they had. From Angie’s purse to their clothing, the robbers showed no hesitation in taking what they could. One of the men even removed Greg’s jacket as the couple complied with the demands.

Despite the high tension, Greg tried to stay calm. He recalled the advice his father had given him in moments of danger: “Give them what they want. Your life is far more valuable.” The robbers, after taking their possessions, ordered the couple to lie down on their stomachs on the ground. With guns still pointed at them, they feared for their lives, unsure of how the ordeal would end.

The Robbers Flee the Scene

After what felt like an eternity, the three men fled the scene, disappearing into the night. Greg and Angie were left shaken, unsure of what had just transpired. As soon as they felt it was safe, they quickly stood up, but the shock of the incident left them in disbelief. Their minds were still processing the horror they had just experienced, and the trauma was evident as they spoke to investigators and local media.

The robbers did not get far. Glenview Police reported that the three men fled the neighborhood in a Jaguar SUV, which was later found abandoned and empty in Chicago. This was a critical clue in the investigation, though police have not been able to release much more information at this time. The authorities are actively investigating the case, hoping to make connections to other incidents in the area that might involve the same group.

Raising Awareness and Staying Vigilant

Despite being victims of such a traumatic crime, Greg and Angie are speaking out in the hope that their story will serve as a warning to others. The couple expressed the importance of staying vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings at all times. Angie noted the “surprise factor” of the whole incident, highlighting how such a shocking and unexpected attack can happen to anyone, anywhere.

Greg added that the rise in brazen criminal behavior has been disturbing, especially in their normally peaceful neighborhood. “These things are not good anywhere. They’re not good in the city, on the South Side, on the North Side. But people have become much more brazen, and they need to be held accountable,” he said.

For the couple, it was not just a matter of losing possessions, but the emotional toll of being confronted with such danger. They hope that by sharing their experience, they can help others become more aware and prepared for similar situations, stressing that being aware and alert at all times can be the difference between a dangerous encounter and a safer outcome.

Ongoing Investigation and Community Concerns

Glenview Police are currently working with other area departments to try to connect the dots between this robbery and other similar incidents in the region. The police have stated that the case is still under investigation, and they are hoping to gather more information from surveillance footage and other sources to track down the suspects.

This robbery has shaken the Glenview community, where residents were previously unaware of such violent crimes occurring in their neighborhood. The couple’s bravery in speaking out, despite the trauma they’ve endured, has brought much-needed attention to the rise in violent crimes and the unpredictability of such situations.

While the investigation continues, residents of Glenview are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The hope is that the robbers will be caught soon and that justice will be served for the victims, who continue to cope with the emotional aftermath of this horrifying crime.
