Audacy Names Chris Brown as New Play-by-Play Voice for Buffalo Bills Broadcasts on WGR 550

Audacy announces Chris Brown as the new radio play-by-play announcer for Buffalo Bills football broadcasts on WGR 550 (WGR-AM), beginning with the 2024 season. Brown, the interim announcer last season, will continue as Bills Insider for the station, co-hosting “One Bills LIVE,” weekdays at 1:00 p.m. ET on WGR 550 and simulcast on MSG.

“Chris is best suited to carry on the long tradition of informative, passionate and entertaining Bills play-by-play announcing,” said Tim Wenger, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Buffalo. “His decades-long knowledge of the organization will be invaluable as he assumes the play-by-play microphone.”

“I was fortunate enough to know Van Miller and John Murphy and worked with them and learned from them,” said Brown. “I’m grateful to be trusted with this responsibility going forward.”

“Chris has been doing the job at an extremely high level for parts of the past two seasons along with Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio,” said Pete Guelli, Chief Operating Officer, Buffalo Bills. “He has strong institutional knowledge of our team while also understanding the pulse of our fans. We look forward to Chris carrying the torch of the legends this job has produced in Van Miller and John Murphy.”

Brown is a seasoned play-by-play broadcaster with a long-standing career in sports. Joining WGR 550 in 1997 as a Bills beat reporter, he became a co-host of “One Bills LIVE” with Steve Tasker in 2006 and was elevated to host in 2020.

Brown also hosts the weekly podcast “Bills by the Numbers,” presented by FanDuel. From 1996 to 2018, he provided play-by-play commentary for the Arena Football League, Mid-American Conference, National Professional Soccer League and MSG.

Brown succeeds longtime Voice of the Bills, John Murphy, who recently announced his retirement. Eric Wood will return as color analyst on WGR 550’s gameday broadcasts.

WGR 550 airs all Buffalo Bills games, pre- and postgame coverage and daily comprehensive coverage of the team by Bills Beat and Sideline Reporter Sal Capaccio.

Listeners can tune in to WGR 550 (WGR-AM) in Buffalo on-air and nationwide on the Audacy app and website. Fans can also connect with the station via XFacebook and Instagram.
