Cumulus Media Classic Rock Station 101 The Fox/KCFX-FM in Kansas City Announces New Weekday On-Air Lineup

Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces a new on-air lineup of morning and afternoon drive shows on Kansas City Classic Rock station 101 The Fox/KCFX-FM. The new weekday programming lineup is effective July 1, 2024.

Joining 101 The Fox Morning Host, Sparks, as Co-Host is Lux. A St. Louis native, Lux delivered top ratings for several years on St. Louis Alternative Rock station 105.7 The Point/KPNT-FM. In addition, popular Kansas City Classic Rock personality, Doug Medlock returns to 101 The Fox as On-Air Host, Afternoons.

The new 101 The Fox weekday on-air lineup is:

  • 5:00am – 9:00am                 Sparks & Lux
  • 9:00am – 2:00pm                 Lyndsey Marie
  • 2:00pm – 7:00pm                 Doug Medlock
  • 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm            Chuck Nasty
  • 10:00 pm – 3:00 am            Steve Gorman

Carey Curelop, Program Director, 101 The Fox said: “We searched the entire country for a partner to add to the wit and listener connection Sparks brings to 101 The Fox mornings. Lux was his match from the minute these two met! She’s funny, clever, honest, and a great entertainer.”

Lux commented: “I am beyond excited to return to radio at 101 The Fox. Once I stepped foot into the studio with Sparks, something just clicked, and I instantly knew this is where I need to be. I am so thankful for Derek Madden, James Kurdziel, Donna Baker, Jim Fox, and Carey Curelop for believing in me and bringing me back to the mic!”

Carey Curelop added: “Doug Medlock knows Kansas City, he knows the Classic Rock audience, and we are incredibly fortunate he made the decision to return to 101 The Fox.”

Doug Medlock remarked: “I’ve been in love with radio since I was a kid. The cool DJs, the music, and the strong connection to the local community. No other media has such a personal relationship with its audience. I’m so excited to be back on 101 The Fox.”

These announcements follow the passing of longtime KCFX host, Slacker on April 17th of this year. Slacker, who fought a heroic battle with complications from AML, was a 33-year fixture on Kansas City radio, with the last 16 years at KCFX.

Jim Fox, Operations Manager, Cumulus Kansas City, explained: “We had big shoes to fill after our difficult loss. The addition of Sparks & Lux Mornings and Doug Medlock Afternoons are exactly what this passionate audience expects from 101 The Fox, known for iconic personalities.”

Cumulus Media owns and operates seven radio stations in Kansas City, including: 101 The Fox/KCFX-FM (Classic Rock); 94.9 KCMO-FM (Classic Hits); 107.3 The Vibe/KMJK-FM (CHR); KCMO Talk Radio/95.7FM and 710AM (Talk Radio); POWER 105.1/KCJK-FM (Urban) and JACK FM/KCMO-HD2 (Adult Hits).
