Cleveland Dance Teacher Gets Life for Sex Assaulting Minors (Video)

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Terence Greene, a dance instructor from Cleveland, has been convicted of sexually assaulting over a half-dozen of his former students. On Thursday, Judge Kevin Kelley of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas sentenced Greene to life in prison. The earliest possibility of parole for Greene will be after serving 365 years.

In May, Greene was found guilty on numerous charges, including rape, sexual battery, kidnapping, and felonious assault. Additionally, he was convicted of gross sexual imposition and disseminating matters harmful to juveniles.

“What I see right now is your soul is lost,” a victim’s mother said at Greene’s sentencing. “You have a lost soul and the devil took over you.”

The trial of Terence Greene commenced on Monday, May 15, presided over by Judge Kevin Kelley of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. Deliberations by the jury began on Tuesday, May 23.

Greene, aged 57, had served as a teacher at the Cleveland School of Arts, located near Stearns Road and Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland, for a span of 19 years.

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, Greene committed sexual assaults against nine students, all below the age of 18, during the period from 1998 to 2019. These incidents occurred in various locations, including the school’s dressing room, events both within and outside the state that they attended together, Greene’s car, and his residence near Churchill Avenue and Orville Avenue in Cleveland.

“My son is not going to let you get away with this,” a victim’s mother said. “All these children that you victimized.”

The victims came forward and reported the incidents to the Cleveland police in June 2020.

Subsequently, on August 13, 2020, Terence Greene was arrested. Following the arrest, on September 3, 2020, Greene was formally indicted on the following charges:

  • 18 counts of rape
  • 29 counts of sexual battery
  • 2 counts of gross sexual imposition
  • 8 counts of felonious assault
  • 14 counts of kidnapping
  • 3 counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. Source
