Radio Facts: OVERNIGHT Radio DJS “BRIAN & CHRIS” STEP UPSTAIRS TO HOST WEEKNIGHTS 7pm ““ Midnight

New York, NY (May 6, 2010) ““ 101.9 RXP (WRXP) “The New York Rock Experience” has announced that overnight team “Brian and Chris” move to weeknights 7p-midnight, a shift previously left open after station Music Director, Brian Phillips, moved into afternoons.     “From the Basement with Brian & Chris” has been airing overnights on 101.9 RXP for the past year featuring two staffers who had stepped into the role.

“Brian and Chris live and breathe the music and have been integral parts of 101.9 RXP since its launch,” said 101.9 RXP Program Director Leslie Fram.   “Don’t ever let it be said that you can’t find treasures in the basement!”

Along with   being the voices behind “From the Basement” on 101.9 RXP, Brian D’Aurelio is the Director of Marketing and Digital Media and Chris Nadler is the Lifestyle Engagement Director for the Emmis New York Cluster including WRXP and sister stations Hot 97 and 98.7 Kiss FM.

“This was originally a move to voice track overnights and bring personality to a day part where we only played music,” explained Emmis New York SVP & General Manager, Alex Cameron.   “The 2009 economic blood bath was a time that forced all of us in radio to make extensive and painful cuts.   While radio has stabilized and there are good positive indicators ahead, we must maintain a new level of fiscal responsibility.   That means being innovative.   It is part of our strategy to be less predictable and harness deeper employee engagement by tapping into the total potential of our talent and their own desire and interest level. Brian and Chris were two in-demo staffers who had natural wit, chemistry, with significant and different backgrounds in rock…and who working in radio doesn’t have a little dream to be on-air?   It’s where some of us started, including me. Our people are our greatest assets and we are making a special effort to see all individuals through a new lens.   To Leslie’s credit, and less typical than most Program Directors, she embraced this philosophy and overnight idea by coaching and cultivating Brian and Chris’ on-air abilities.”

This duo of emerging talent is now being called upon by Fram to fill the void Phillips left open upon moving up to PM drive.   “From the Basement with Brian and Chris” debuts on May 17th in its’ new timeslot, 7pm-midnight on 101.9 RXP!

Brian D’Aurelio is the Director of Marketing and Digital Media at Emmis New York and has held various on and off-air duties during his 15 years in radio, starting in afternoons in his small hometown outside of Cleveland and working his way to Chicago (Rock 103.5 & 97.9 The Loop) and eventually New York (Q104.3, Z100).   He currently directs marketing and digital brand ing in New York at Hot 97, 98.7 Kiss FM and has been an integral part of the team that inspired and built 101.9 RXP.

Chris Nadler is the Lifestyle Engagement Director at Emmis New York and is a music industry veteran with a diverse rock background including stints as writer and editor for Creeme Magazine, Associate Editor at Request Magazine and Artist Management on tours with icons such as Paul Simon and Elton John.   Chris currently directs marketing partnerships and event sponsorships at Hot 97, 98.7 Kiss FM and 101.9 RXP.
