**Detroit Community Unites for Winter Coat Drive, Tripling Donations**
In a heartwarming display of solidarity, Detroit’s neighborhoods came together for the “Operation: Cozy” winter coat drive at Kadesh Baptist Church, a key highlight of Local 4’s November “Go 4 It” event. In partnership with the Center for Youth & Families, this year’s drive exceeded all expectations, tripling last year’s contributions and underscoring the community’s commitment to helping those in need.
Over the course of the event, generous donations poured in from locals eager to make a difference. A standout contribution came from Debbie, a dedicated crafter from Dearborn, who knitted and donated an impressive 77 handmade scarves and hats. Her heartfelt offering exemplifies the spirit of community that defined the day.
Elizabeth Richardson, COO of the Center for Youth & Families, praised the collective effort, stating, “It’s incredible to see our community come together like this. Every coat and accessory donated signifies hope and warmth for families in need.” The enthusiasm was palpable, with volunteers working tirelessly to sort and organize the incoming donations.
