**Edenville Community Demands Justice Five Years After Dam Disaster**

Edenville, MI – Five years after the catastrophic failure of the Edenville Dam, the shadow of that fateful day looms large over the community. Residents are still grappling with the aftermath of the disaster that obliterated Wixom Lake, leaving approximately 11,000 people dealing with property loss, environmental contamination, and emotional distress.

On the morning of May 19, 2020, heavy rains overwhelmed the dam, leading to an uncontrolled release of water that wreaked havoc on homes and businesses. Just months prior, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) had issued warnings regarding the dam’s structural integrity, yet the necessary preventative measures were neglected, resulting in unimaginable devastation.

For locals like Gordy Stryker, the question of justice continues to resonate. “Our lives were turned upside down in an instant,” he states, standing in front of what was once his cherished lakeside home. “We deserve accountability for the negligence that caused this disaster.” Stryker, along with other residents, has been vocal about the need for transparency and reparations, calling on state and federal officials to address those responsible for the dam’s failure.

As legal proceedings are set to take place in 2026, the community remains in a state of limbo. Chris and Laura, another couple affected by the dam disaster, express their frustration. “Every day is a reminder of what we lost,” they say. “We’re fighting not just to rebuild our lives but for the recognition that this should never have happened.”

With scars still fresh and the fight for justice ongoing, Edenville stands united, demanding accountability and striving for a future where safety and vigilance take precedence over negligence.
