Sony Music Publishing Chairman & CEO Jon Platt has a message about the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards
Jon states: Sony Music Publishing songwriters had a historic night of wins at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, a ceremony which celebrated togetherness through music and featured powerful wins for women across several top categories.
Beginning the evening with nine nominations, the most out of any artist, Beyoncé took home four honors and earned her 28th GRAMMY win, becoming the most-awarded female artist in history. She broke records with her wins for Best R&B Performance with “Black Parade,” Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl,” as well as Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Savage” with Megan Thee Stallion, co-written by Bobby Sessions, J. White, Pardi, and Jay-Z.
In addition, Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff won this year’s Album of the Year award for their work on Taylor Swift’s Folklore and performed with Taylor during the show; and theBest Latin Pop Album was awarded to Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, an album crafted by an impressive amount of Sony Music Publishing songwriters; Tainy, Daddy Yankee, Myke Towers, Jowell & Randy, Mambo Kingz, Haze, Richi Lopez, Ezequiel “EZ” Rivera, and Nino Segarra.
Sony Music Publishing songwriters who won awards and contributed to winning works also included Miranda Lambert, who won Best Country Album for Wildcard; Lady Gaga for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with “Rain on Me,” co-written by Bloodpop and Burns; Kanye West, with his Best Contemporary Christian Music Album win for Jesus is King; PJ Morton, who won Best Gospel Album with Gospel According to PJ; Kortney Pollard, with theBest Gospel Performance/Song win for “Movin’ On”; and Koz and Lindgren for their work on the Best Pop Vocal Album, Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.
