An Amusement Park was evacuated after three people were shot in the parking lot. Heavy police presence flooded the Six Flags Great America in Gurnee after the three victims were gunned down.
No one is in custody yet while the injuries appear non-life threatening, a police source said. To ensure the safety of its guests, the amusement park, which usually closes at 8:00 PM, was evacuated.
Laurie Walker and her daughter, Grace, were visiting the amusement park that day when the shooting occurred. They spoke to WGN News about the tragic event and said they were standing in line waiting to get on a ride called ‘Ricochet’ located southwest of the park. They noticed people frantically running around 7:50 PM.
“There is an active shooter, get down, get down,” Walker recalled someone shouting. “We didn’t know what was going on, so we get down.”
