Apple Music has officially launched a new playlist through Shazam to help highlight up and coming artists.
The music app now has the weekly “Shazam Discovery Top 50″ playlist which features a global ranking of 50 artists “on the move and trending.” The list mainly features new artists for audiences to get into. “Want to be ahead of the curve?” a company statement from Apple read. “The global Shazam Discovery Top 50, powered by Shazams from around the world and updated once a week, complies up-and-coming songs from breaking artists. If you hear a song you like, add it to your library.”
The company uses “Shazam’s proprietary algorithms [to offer] a unique predictive view on rising artists and reacting tracks to Apple Music subscribers.” Shazam currently boasts 20 million Shazams of songs every day and have over 1 billion downloads of the app.
The new chart will be updated every Tuesday and is exclusively available for streaming on Apple Music. “The ranked songs are all at different points in their individual lifecycle and the majority of artists represented are emerging and up-and-coming,” the company announcement read. “All are experiencing a level of momentum indicative of future potential of hitting the top of Shazam’s Charts, and show any or all of the following patterns: moving quickly through Shazam’s charts, growing rapidly, steadily and/or geographically.”
Currently, the chart has songs that are trending in the United States and over 10 additional countries. More countries will soon be represented.
