Bartlett Police Investigate Shooting at Indoor Playground
BARTLETT, TN — A sense of community turned into chaos Saturday afternoon at a local indoor playground when gunfire erupted, sending families scrambling for safety. Bartlett police are now investigating the incident that resulted in at least one injured individual and raised alarm among parents and caregivers in the area.
Witnesses report that the shooting occurred around 3 PM at the popular family venue, Buzzing Bees Indoor Play Center, which was filled with children enjoying the weekend. The playful atmosphere quickly transformed as an argument broke out between two men, leading to a barrage of bullets that shattered the carefree ambiance and sent patrons fleeing toward exits.
“People were screaming and running everywhere,” said a mother who was celebrating her child’s birthday at the playground. “It was terrifying; I just grabbed my kids and ran out.” Video footage shared on social media captured frantic scenes as parents hurried to ensure their children’s safety.
Local authorities responded promptly, securing the scene and providing medical assistance to the victim, whose identities remain undisclosed pending notification of family. As of late Saturday evening, no arrests had been reported, and police are appealing to the public for any information regarding the men involved in the shooting.
“The safety of our community is our top priority,” stated Detective Mark Harris during a press conference. “We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and speak with us.”
As the investigation unfolds, many in Bartlett are left grappling with the unsettling reality of gun violence encroaching on spaces meant for family fun and togetherness. The community is hoping for a swift resolution and renewed measures to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
