Bleecker Street, LD Entertainment Acquire U.S. Rights to Bone Lake

Bleecker Street has teamed up with its long-time collaborator LD Entertainment to acquire the U.S. rights to Bone Lake, a darkly humorous and seductive survival thriller directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan (Fixation, Spoonful of Sugar).

The film stars Marco Pigossi (High Tide, “Gen V”), Maddie Hasson (Elevation, “Twisted”), Alex Roe (The 5th Wave, Hot Summer Nights), and Andra Nechita (“Matlock”, “The Sex Lives of College Girls”). Premiering at Fantastic Fest in 2024 to critical acclaim, Bone Lake currently holds a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Bleecker Street is set to release the film in U.S. theaters on October 10th.

Mister Smith has also joined as the international sales representative, with the film’s rights to be represented beginning at Cannes in May. This collaboration follows Mister Smith’s work with LD Entertainment on Dangerous Animals, which premiered at Directors’ Fortnight.

Bone Lake follows a couple’s romantic getaway at a secluded lakeside estate, which is disrupted when they are forced to share the mansion with a mysterious and attractive couple. This darkly comedic horror story turns a dream vacation into a nightmare of sex, lies, and manipulation, as terrifying secrets are revealed, triggering a deadly fight for survival.

The film is produced by Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, and Jacob Yakob for LD Entertainment, alongside Joshua Friedlander and Jason Blumenfeld. Executive producers include Mehrdod Heydari and Joseph Yakob for LD Entertainment, as well as Alex Roe. The deal was negotiated by Bleecker Street’s Avy Eschenasy and Miranda King, with Michael Glassman and UTA Independent Film Group representing the filmmakers.

Bone Lake is the latest collaboration between Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment, who previously worked together on films like I.S.S., Teen Spirit, Megan Leavey, and Anthropoid. It also marks Bleecker Street’s continued expansion into genre films, following the release of Andrew Cumming’s Out of Darkness in 2024, as well as the upcoming The Third Parent, a creepypasta adaptation starring Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover, and Roselyn Sanchez, set for release in 2026.

Additionally, Bleecker Street has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the 1984 cult classic This Is Spinal Tap and its sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, directed by Rob Reiner and featuring Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer reprising their iconic roles.

The studio plans a nationwide theatrical release of a newly restored edition of This Is Spinal Tap from July 5-7, leading up to the sequel’s release on September 12. Bleecker Street also acquired Rebuilding, directed by Max Walker-Silverman, starring Josh O’Connor, Lily Latorre, Meghann Fahy, Kali Reis, and Amy Madigan, which will be released later this year.

Bleecker Street’s recent releases include The Friend (starring Naomi Watts, Bill Murray, Ann Dowd, Constance Wu, and Bing the Great Dane) and The Wedding Banquet (directed by Andrew Ahn), which premiered at Sundance. Upcoming titles include the thriller Relay, starring Riz Ahmed, Lily James, and Sam Worthington, which premiered at TIFF and will be released this summer, and Fackham Hall, a period comedy written by comedian Jimmy Carr in his screenwriting debut.
