BMG has announced the promotion of Tim Reid to SVP, Repertoire & Marketing, for BMG Recorded Music, responsible for leading the development of BMG Recorded Music’s focus in R&B and Hip-Hop in the US. Based in Los Angeles, Reid reports directly to Thomas Scherer, BMG’s EVP, Repertoire & Marketing, Los Angeles.

Reid is responsible for partnering with some of today’s most respected artists including Anthony Hamilton, Keyshia Cole, Big K.R.I.T., DeJ Loaf, Terrace Martin, Ledisi, Ayo & Teo, DJ Infamous, alongside recently Grammy nominated India.Arie (R&B chart-topping album Worthy – 2019), and R&B icon Charlie Wilson whose collaborative single with BMG songwriter Bruno Mars, ‘Forever Valentine’, recently topped the Billboard Adult R&B chart.
Upcoming projects include Derez De’Shon, Ayo & Teo – the Rap/Dance duo who premiered Drake’s number one single ‘Toosie Slide’ via their breakout social media viral dance video, Ledisi, DeJ Loaf, and Lil Dicky’s upcoming new studio album.
A longtime BMG executive, Reid was responsible for helping launch BMG’s Recorded Music US success with Janet Jackson’s return, Unbreakable, in 2015, which debuted number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
His work with BMG partner Commission Music, Reid helped to expand BMG’s footprint in Rap/Hip-Hop with artists including Lil Dicky (multi-Platinum ‘Freaky Friday’ and the multi-platform hit ‘Earth’, which raised over $800,000 for charities fighting to combat climate change and COVID-19), MadeinTYO, and Derez De’Shon, among others.
Additional recent frontline Rap successes include the Top 10 charting albums, Big K.R.I.T. 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time and Scarface Deeply Rooted.
Under Reid’s leadership, BMG ranked as the number four label in Adult R&B Radio chart share in 2019 (Billboard and Mediabase), scoring four number one singles at Billboard Adult R&B, alongside multiple Top 5 and Top 10 singles through 2020.
Early in his career, Reid served as Head of Marketing for Priority Records where he worked with iconic artists Ice Cube, Mack10, Westside Connection, Jay-Z (Reasonable Doubt), and Master P & No Limit Records.
Reid would go on to serve at MCA Records as VP of Marketing overseeing Platinum, Gold, and award-winning breakthroughs for The Roots, Common, Shaggy, GZA of the Wu Tang Clan, Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Later Reid transitioned to Interscope Geffen A&M Records working with Snoop Dogg, Common, Busta Rhymes, Mos Def, Akon’s KonLive label, and Avant.
Reid served as marketing consultant for both Jill Scott’s Blues Babe Records who released her Number One Billboard 200 album The Light of the Sun in 2011 and Common’s Think Common Music who released the album, The Dreamer, The Believer, the same year.
Prior to joining BMG in 2014, Reid was VP of Product Management for INgrooves Distribution.
