BMI Celebrates Its 2025 Latin Award Winners (Photos)

BMI® celebrated its top Latin songwriters and publishers this evening at the 32nd Annual BMI Latin Awards held at the Coastal Convention Center in the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, FL. Peso Pluma was presented with the BMI Champion Award for his undeniable influence on Música Mexicana, and his revolutionary sound that has resonated with millions of fans worldwide.

In addition, Peso Pluma was named Regional Mexican Songwriter of the YearTito Double P was honored with the BMI Impact Award for his contributions to Peso Pluma’s success and his innovative songwriting that has propelled him into one of the most popular new artists in the Música Mexicana genre. BMI’s Regional Mexican Song and Publisher of the Year and BMI’s Contemporary Latin Song, Songwriter and Publisher of the Year as well as the top 50 Latin songs of the previous year were also announced. The private event was hosted by BMI’s President & CEO Mike O’Neill and Vice President, Creative, Latin, Jesus Gonzalez. 

Upon receiving the BMI Champion Award, Peso Pluma thanked the BMI family and Double P Records as well as the artists and composers he’s collaborated with throughout his career. Peso Pluma expressed, “Thank you for supporting this huge movement in Música Mexicana, I’m very proud of what we’ve all accomplished together as a team and family.” The hitmaker was also named Regional Mexican Songwriter of the Year for penning seven of BMI’s most-performed regional Mexican songs of the past year, including “Bipolar,” “Bye,” “El Gavilán,” “Igualito a Mi Apá,” “Luna,” “Peso Pluma: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 55” and “Tulum.” 

As a BMI Champion Award recipient, the GRAMMY award-winning artist joins an elite group of music creators who have received the accolade in the past including SZA, Khalid, Residente, Sebastian Krys, Inflo, Mark Ronson and Keith Urban, among others. Throughout his career, Peso Pluma has accumulated 13 BMI Awards, a GRAMMY for Best Música Mexicana Album for GÉNESIS, and four Latin GRAMMY® nominations, including Record of the Year and Best Contemporary Mexican Album for GÉNESIS. 

Tito Double P was presented with the BMI Impact Award during the ceremony. In receiving this honor, he joins previous BMI Impact Award recipients Edgar Barrera, Ice Spice, Arlo Parks, RAYE, P2J and Tems, among others. The rising star has garnered six BMI Awards to date, including awards for his hit songs “El Gavilán” and “La People” which were recognized during the ceremony. 

Contemporary Latin Songwriter of the Year was presented to global superstar Karol G and hit producer and songwriter MAG for writing six of BMI’s most-performed contemporary Latin songs of the past year respectively, including their collaboration on the song “MI EX TENÍA RAZÓN,” as well as Karol G’s “AMARGURA,” “Cairo,” “QLONA,” “S91” and “X Si Volvemos;” and “Fina,” “Monaco,” “Perro Negro,” “Un Preview” and “WHERE SHE GOES” by MAG. 

The hit song “Lady Gaga,” written by Gabito Ballesteros and Alexis Fierro Román, was named Regional Mexican Song of the Year. “La Bebé (Remix),” written by Peso Pluma and HASA KING Beatz, won Contemporary Latin Song of the Year. Sony Music Publishing took home the honor for Regional Mexican Publisher of the Year for representing 11 of the previous year’s most-performed regional Mexican songs and Kobalt Music Publishing won Contemporary Latin Publisher of the Year for representing seven of the previous year’s most-performed contemporary Latin songs. 

Throughout the ceremony guests were treated to a live performance by FloyyMenor, who sang his Billboard number one hit song “Gata Only” and later in the evening, Jasiel Nuñez captivated the room with a medley of “Intro (Blues),” “Amiri,” and his BMI Latin award-winning song “Bipolar.”  

Over the course of the evening, BMI also recognized the previous year’s 50 most-performed Latin songs including “De Lunes a Lunes” by Edgar Barrera, “Abcdario” by Michelle Maciel, “First Love” by Oscar Ortiz, “MOJABI GHOST” by Tainy, “Qué Agonía” by José Esparza and Angélica Gallegos and “Yandel 150” by Yandel, among others.  

Prior to the ceremony, the BMI Foundation presented the 2025 Peermusic Award to Tomás Jonsson for his winning song “Ocurrencias.” The 2025 BMI Latin Awards was supported by Gallagher.
