Buffalo, New York, just struck one of the highest labor wins in the country for restaurant workers. As three Buffalo-area locations voted to unionize Starbucks, which has close to 9000 stores in the U.S., more stores are expected to get on board.
Three Buffalo area locations held separate elections, including Baristas and shift supervisors. One store voted to unionize 19-8. And a vote of 12-8 at another site rejected unionization. Starbucks workers who voted to unionize will join Workers United, affiliated with the massive Service Employees International Union.
Three more Buffalo stores are also voting to unionize and one in Arizona. source
