ST. LOUIS, MO, SEPTEMBER 12, 2017- Recently, CBS RADIO St. Louis rallied the local community to raise $83,000 for the American Red Cross and filled six 53’ trailers with more than 100,000 pounds of items to be donated to victims of Hurricane Harvey. The goods will be transported to the Houston area by the Teamsters of Joint Council 13. A number of efforts contributed to the final donation amount.
On Friday, September 8, CBS RADIO St. Louis hosted a “STL for Houston Donation Drive” at a local area Schnucks Supermarket. All three local stations, KMOX 1120, 102.5 KEZK and Y98, broadcasted live from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PMon location and encouraged St. Louisians to drop off non-perishable goods, cleaning supplies and/or donations to the American Red Cross. The donation drive raised over $23,000 for the American Red Cross.
In addition to the one-day relief drive, CBS RADIO St. Louis worked with 67 local Schnucks Supermarkets to institute and promote a Scan & Give campaign that lasted from August 31through September 8t. This campaign allowed shoppers to donate at the registers with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey relief effort. The final total of the Scan & Give campaign was over $60,000.
