A troubling incident occurred at the Bevy Nightclub, also known as Light Chicago, located at 215 West Ontario in the River North area of Chicago, resulting in a serious injury and hospitalization of a local business owner.
The victim, Terrell Henry, claims that he was brutally assaulted by security personnel at the club after a confrontation regarding the use of a VIP section. This incident has now attracted the attention of local law enforcement, with Area Three detectives currently investigating the matter.
A Night Out Turns Violent
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday morning, shortly after 1:00 AM. Terrell Henry, a Chicago business owner, had purchased a VIP section at Bevy Nightclub for $800. The night started on a positive note, with Henry and his associates enjoying their time at the club. Henry even captured some of these moments on video, showcasing the lively atmosphere inside the nightclub.
However, the situation quickly took a turn for the worse. According to Henry, a man approached him in the club, demanding that he pay an additional $500 for a bottle of alcohol if he wished to remain in the VIP section. Henry, who had already paid for his section and brought his own bottles, found this demand unreasonable. Nevertheless, he offered to leave the section to avoid any conflict.
Security Involvement Escalates
As the crowd in the club began to spill into other areas, Henry attempted to return to his VIP section. At this point, another individual motioned for the security personnel to intervene. Henry recalls that the security guards approached him aggressively, with one guard grabbing him and pushing him toward a back room, which was not the same entrance he had initially used to enter the club.
What followed was a violent altercation. Henry states that one of the security guards pushed him, and another guard, who was standing behind, sucker-punched him in the eye. This blow caused Henry to fall backward, hitting his head on the concrete floor. Henry describes being knocked out for a few seconds due to the impact. When he regained consciousness and attempted to exit the club, he was struck again by the security personnel.
Aftermath of the Assault
The severity of the assault left Henry with significant injuries. He still has a black eye, with popped blood vessels visible inside it. In addition, he sustained several stitches to his mouth and had staples inserted in the back of his head.
Henry also shared that he feels woozy and disoriented due to the injuries. He showed a bag from Northwestern Hospital, containing his bloodied shoes and shirt. Notably, Henry mentioned that his necklace is missing, and a part of his front tooth was chipped, leaving him with a damaged smile—something he regrets losing due to the night’s events.
Ongoing Investigation
The Chicago Police Department has taken note of the incident, with Area Three detectives currently conducting an investigation. The two men involved in the assault were identified as security personnel based on their shirts, which had security markings. However, no further details about the investigation or potential charges have been released by the police at this time.
Henry’s account paints a disturbing picture of what should have been a routine night out turning into a violent confrontation with those who were supposed to ensure the safety of club patrons. As the investigation continues, questions remain about the actions of the security personnel involved and the broader implications for the safety protocols at the nightclub.
Henry himself expressed deep regret over the incident, wishing he had never gone to the club, as he believes the situation escalated unnecessarily and resulted in lasting physical and emotional scars.
