Comedian David A. Arnold Dies Suddenly at 54 (video)

This isn’t just another news story; I have seen David several times over the years, and I met him on the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage cruise a few years back. He and Kim Whitley were touring together and had a great show. David died suddenly at the age of 54 from natural causes.

I saw him a few months ago at an event in Hollywood with his wife, Julie, and we were laughing about his family videos, and I was telling him how great those videos were on Youtube.

He loved his family and made them the center of his comedy. The last time I saw him, he was really happy about his new Netflix special, and he seemed to be getting his just due finally after many years on the comedy scene.

The family issued a statement: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our husband, father, brother and friend, David A. Arnold. David passed away peacefully today in his home and doctors have ruled the cause of death due to natural causes. Please keep our family in prayer and respect our privacy at this time, as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.”

Arnold had just started a 4-month tour at the time of his death and he was supposed to appear on the Sherri Shepherd show during a premiere segment.

He created and was the executive producer and showrunner on Nickelodeon’s hit show That Girl Lay Lay. This show made him one of the few Black showrunners in Hollywood. He’s written for many shows, including Rickey Smiley, House of Payne, and more.

In the video below, he is promoting future shows after a bit with his wife, Julie, about leftovers in the fridge. He also purchased his very first brand-new car last month after many years of hard work. Rest in Power, David, and condolences to his wife and daughters.
