DeanGillard1Dean Gillard has been appointed Vice President International Marketing and A&R for PM:AM Recordings, Universal Music’s global dance music network. Based in London, Gillard reports to Kate Farmer, Senior Vice President International Marketing at Universal Music Group International.Gillard is a senior A&R executive with over 20 years’ experience working with internationally successful artists from around the world and has played a key role in launching Universal Music’s PM:AM Recordings in 2011 alongside Farmer, Per Sundin, Universal Music’s SVP Nordic Region and Universal Music Netherlands Managing Director Norbert Plantinga.PM:AM Recordings brings together the best dance and electronic releases from Universal Music companies and labels around the world, including Positiva, Astralwerks, 4th and Broadway, Casablanca, Island Dance and many more, with a team of specialists who are experts in finding, developing and breaking dance hits. The PM:AM Recordings network has worked with artists, producers and DJs including Avicii, Afrojack, Eric Prydz, Sebastian Ingrosso, Klangkarusell, Fedde Le Grand, Alesso, Otto Knows, Duke Dumont, Nause, Rebecca & Fiona, Martin Garrix and Tiësto whose recent hit ‘Red Lights’ was mixed and additionally produced by Gillard. Working with Kate, Per and Norbert to launch this over the last few years has been fantastic and I’m looking forward to building and growing PM:AM Recordings even further.”A DJ since he was a teenager, Gillard joined the MCA Records club promotions department in the UK in 1992, working on hit records from artists including Mary J Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D & The Boyz and Bobby Brown, and during this time he was part of the team that A&R’d Livin’ Joy and their evergreen dance classic ‘Dreamer. In 1995 he was appointed to a new international A&R role, overseeing projects for artists including Blackstreet, Rakim and Snoop Dogg while continuing his involvement, now in an A&R capacity, with Mary J Blige and Jodeci.
