A domestic dispute left three people dead at an narcotics anonymous group meeting in Florida, police said. The three victims were discovered following a shooting and a hostage situation at the organization.
On Monday night, police responded to a complaint that a man had been shot and a woman was held hostage on North Ridgewood Avenue in Edgewater near Daytona Beach.
Other attendees at the meeting managed to escape Be the Bridge offices, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless individuals with different needs get back on their feet.
Investigators believe the shooting appears to be related to a domestic dispute, said Edgewater police in a Facebook post. Before a SWAT team breached the building and found three deceased bodies, officers tried negotiating with the suspect, the Post said. Additional details have not been released. Police are calling the attack a double-murder suicide.
Police said before he turned the gun on himself and took his own life, the suspect killed the female hostage, According to WESH.
The violence stunned community members who lived close to the building. Police have not released the names of the shooter or the victims.
