Family Grieves After 28-Year-Old Realtor Killed in Dallas (video)

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Downtown Dallas earlier this month, leaving a Houston-area family devastated. Ashley Long, a 28-year-old real estate agent from the Richmond-Rosenberg area, was fatally shot in what appeared to be an unexpected and senseless act of violence. The shooting, which occurred on a sunny Wednesday, is now at the center of a painful journey for her family as they seek justice and cope with the loss of a beloved daughter, friend, and career-driven woman.

The Incident: A Tragic Encounter

Ashley Long was visiting Dallas with a group of friends when the tragic shooting took place. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Ashley and her companions had been walking in Downtown Dallas when they crossed paths with Kendrick Finch, a 34-year-old man who would later be charged in connection with her murder. Finch was a passenger in a passing Mercedes when he allegedly got out of the vehicle with a gun in hand.

The situation escalated when Ashley’s friend, who was with her at the time, reached into the car, possibly trying to stop the vehicle. Without warning, Finch opened fire, striking both Ashley and her companion. Ashley was critically injured, and despite being rushed to the hospital, she was later declared dead. Her companion, who was also shot, fortunately survived the attack.

Surveillance video from the scene captured the moments leading up to the shooting, helping investigators piece together the details of what happened. According to police reports, the violence seemed to erupt over a seemingly insignificant interaction—an act that would end in tragedy for Ashley and her family.

The Investigation and Suspect’s Surrender

In the aftermath of the shooting, the Dallas police launched an intensive investigation. Ashley’s family, heartbroken by the loss of their loved one, turned to social media to help spread awareness of the case, hoping to bring justice to Ashley. As the investigation unfolded, it was revealed that a few hours after the shooting, Finch called the police to admit his involvement in the incident, claiming he was the passenger in the Mercedes during the shooting.

Despite his initial admission of involvement, it wasn’t until April 18th that Finch voluntarily turned himself in to the authorities, prompted by the Dallas Police Department’s public appeal on social media. Finch’s surrender came after weeks of public outcry, and the video of his handcuffing and arrest was captured and shared by the media, bringing further attention to the case.

The Grief of Ashley’s Family

Ashley’s family has been left in shock and sorrow. They remember her not only as a loving daughter and friend but as a career-oriented woman with big dreams and a glowing spirit. In the days following her death, they spoke to the media, sharing how hard it has been to come to terms with the tragic loss.

Her family recounts how Ashley was a constant presence in their lives. One member of her family shared how they texted Ashley every night, sending her good night messages, a routine that is now painfully absent. The absence of Ashley’s presence has left an irreplaceable hole in their lives. The family is especially struggling with the upcoming holidays, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, which they will now face without their beloved Ashley.

The Criminal History of Kendrick Finch

As the investigation into Ashley Long’s murder continued, it was revealed that Kendrick Finch, the man accused of her death, had a criminal history. Prior to the shooting, Finch had faced multiple charges, including drug-related offenses and burglary. These past charges have raised questions about his background and what may have motivated the violent act that ended Ashley Long’s life.

As of now, Finch remains in police custody while the case continues to unfold. The family of Ashley Long, though grieving, remains resolute in their mission to seek justice for the young woman whose life was cut tragically short.

Seeking Justice and Remembering Ashley

Ashley Long’s family has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about her death and to ensure that Finch is held accountable for his actions. The emotional weight of losing a loved one in such a senseless way is something that Ashley’s family will carry with them forever. As they navigate their lives without her, they have vowed to honor her memory and fight for justice, not just for Ashley, but for the countless others who have lost loved ones to violence.

The case continues to draw attention, with many following closely to see how the legal system handles the matter. The Long family, in their grief, has found solace in knowing that Ashley’s story is being heard and that the fight for justice is ongoing.

As the investigation continues and the trial looms on the horizon, Ashley Long’s family is determined to keep her memory alive. Their voices will remain steadfast, ensuring that Ashley is remembered not just as a victim, but as a vibrant, loving woman who had so much more to offer the world. Her family’s efforts to spread awareness, share her story, and fight for justice serve as a testament to the woman Ashley was and the impact she made on those around her.
