FAMU Alum Named VP At M Booth In New York

Eric Winkfield was hired to accelerate the company’s progress to becoming one of the most inclusive agencies in the country.

Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumnus Eric Winkfield has been named vice president of M Booth, a public relations agency in New York.

Winkfield, a 2015 FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) graduate, was hired in the newly created role to “accelerate progress toward M Booth’s goal to become one of the most inclusive agencies in the country,” the company said in its Sept. 21 announcement.

In vice president, Winkfield will be working closely and managing the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) efforts across M Booth and M Booth Health, the company said.

CEO Dale Bornstein said the company is thrilled to have Winkfield in this critical role.

“Our diversity, equity and inclusion journey began more than five years ago, and though we have made strides, we haven’t created the meaningful change to become the agency we aspire to be,” Bornstein said. “Eric will focus on holding our two agencies accountable, helping us craft and implement changes to make us a place where employees feel safe, valued, welcomed, and included. His experience in diversity, equity and inclusion marketing, public affairs, and corporate communications will be a great benefit to our clients.”

Winkfield will work in the DE&I department to drive the recruitment and retention of Black and diverse talent, benchmark progress, and ensure accountability across the agency.

“The opportunity to accelerate and strengthen M Booth’s progress toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion is both humbling and rewarding,” Winkfield said. “I have been mentored, trained, and coached by many giants in the PR and communications industry who have prepared me for this very assignment. I am excited to join an organization that is committed to building a more inclusive culture that better serves our employees, clients, and communities.”

After earning his bachelor’s in public relations at FAMU, Winkfield obtained a master’s in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University in 2016.

Before joining M Booth, Winkfield worked for Pepco, a Washington, D.C.-based public utility company. At Pepco he held positions in both their communications department and external affairs department.

He is also still involved in FAMU SJGC as a mentor. In 2018, he was named the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations’ Emerging Leader.

A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Winkfield serves on the board of advisors for After-School All Stars DC.
