FBI Agents Execute Raid on Minnesota Home in Connection to Juror Bribe (Video)

FBI Raids Minnesota Home

The FBI executed a raid on a home in Savage, Minnesota, as part of an investigation into an alleged juror bribe. This raid is connected to a case involving seven defendants accused of misappropriating federal funds.

Farah’s Alleged Misappropriation of Funds

Farah, one of the defendants, allegedly purchased the home on Hampshire Lane with $8 million he stole from the federal government through the “Feeding Our Future” scheme. He is accused of using these funds to buy property and vehicles. Farah was a co-owner of Empire Cuisine in Shakopee, which is central to the case.

Alleged Bribery Attempt

The investigation is focused on a $120,000 bribe offered to a juror. A family member of the juror reported that a Somali woman dropped off a bag of cash, referring to the juror by name and promising more money if the juror voted not guilty. Only the lawyers and defendants had access to the jurors’ names.

Defendants Arrested

Judge Nancy Brazell ordered the defendants to turn over their phones and had them all arrested. Previously, the defendants were out of custody but will now remain in jail until a verdict is reached.

Unprecedented Nature of the Bribe

Former U.S. Attorney Erica McDonald commented on the unusual nature of the bribe, noting that while witness tampering cases have occurred, a case involving a direct bribe to a juror is unprecedented. She emphasized the importance of jurors following instructions and reporting any outside contact immediately, which the juror did in this case.

Jury Deliberations Continue

The jury concluded a second day of deliberations on Wednesday without reaching a verdict.
