FBI Raids Home of Felon Linked to Bowling Alley Shooting

In a dramatic pre-dawn raid, FBI agents, alongside Dearborn police, stormed the residence of Gregory Powell, a 44-year-old convicted felon, on Saturday. This operation is part of an ongoing investigation tied to a deadly shooting incident that occurred at Vision Lanes bowling alley in Westland back in April 2021.

The raid featured the use of flash bangs, creating chaos as agents moved swiftly to apprehend Powell and search for evidence. During the operation, multiple firearms and significant evidence related to the bowling alley shooting were seized. Powell, who has openly admitted to being involved in the shooting, claims he acted in self-defense during the altercation at the bowling alley.

Legal experts suggest that Powell’s admission, despite his assertion of self-defense, may not hold up against the mounting evidence. He now faces federal charges for being a felon in possession of ammunition, a serious offense which could lead to substantial prison time. Security footage from the bowling alley, along with Powell’s identification and other incriminating evidence, appear to directly link him to the violent incident.

An expert from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) confirmed that the shell casings recovered from the scene match those seized during the raid, further complicating Powell’s defense. As the investigation continues, authorities are concerned about the growing trend of violence in such public spaces.
