FreshTracks is the first to offer Smart Search technology, revolutionising music search by harnessing the power of AI.

FreshTracks Music UK—a new MCPS Production Music publisher—today announces the expansion of its recently launched UK division, with three new executives joining Managing Director John Clifford, former Global Head of BMG PM and Universal PM UK.

The business also launched its Smart Search technology, revolutionising music search by harnessing the power of AI prompts and combatting the challenge of describing music when searching for a match for your media projects.

Leading the FreshTracks sales and marketing charge in the UK is Tayo Kazzim as Head of Sales.

Kazzim, who previously held roles at PRS for Music, Imagem and Extreme Music, is based in London and reports to Managing Director, John Clifford.

Josie Kiely joins the team as Senior Client Account Manager and brings experience from working at Warner Chappell Production Music, Viacom and PPL, while Charley Dunlop serves as Client Account Manager having previously worked at Sky, KPM/EMI, and BAM as a music consultant and supervisor.

Alongside this team expansion, the FreshTracks UK tech offering evolves with its launch of Smart Search.

Combining the latest advancements in large language model technology and AI-driven music discovery, powered by AIMS API, FreshTracks is the first to introduce this innovative method of delivering music for media.

Describing the music needed for a project can be difficult—as goes the famous quote: ‘Writing about music is like dancing about architecture’.

With Smart Search, instead of the traditional inputting of keywords into the search bar, clients can tell the media story rather than attempting to describe the sound; for example by describing a scene, project, storyline, location, artist or film title references, preferred exclusions, or by pasting in any relevant text in their natural language.

Smart Search utilises a variety of AI techniques to present the best-matched tracks from the catalogue, and these search prompts can be tweaked, modified and evolved. It also recognises local languages for use by clients throughout continental Europe.

Smart Search is fast, simple, and does not rely on metadata or tags as it is powered by AI. It navigates around issues with keyword abuse, not understanding music tagging, individual differences in vocabulary and approaches, and oversimplification of describing music.

FreshTracks Music catalogues are nominated for four 2023 Production Music Awards: Best Ambient/Minimalist category (‘Imsdalen’ by Tord Stalhein Mortensen), Best Folk (‘Gazing From Above’ composed by Roger Gascon Salvado), Best Electronic (‘Feeling So Fresh’ by Luke Melville, Kellian Smyth, Max Bronco, Jimmy Kaleth, Callum Melville), and Best Christmas (‘Swing Little Bells’ composed by Gerard Gueudin, Letizia Morelli).

Alongside its own repertoire, FreshTracks Music UK sub-publishes select quality Production Music from international labels, expanding the offering of the wider FreshTracks Music network that also operates in 10 countries across Europe.
