DETROIT, MI — The spirit of Motown filled the air as the 22nd Annual Detroit Tree Lighting event dazzled attendees in Campus Martius Park last night. Presented by the DTE Energy Foundation, the celebration drew thousands to downtown Detroit, marking the official kickoff to the holiday season.
As night fell, the iconic park transformed into a winter wonderland, adorned with shimmering lights and festive decor. The highlight of the evening was a performance by Hittsville NEXT, a talented group of local artists who brought the magic of Motown to life with live music that had the crowd dancing and cheering.
“This is not just a tree; it’s a symbol of hope and unity for our community,” remarked Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan during the opening ceremony. “Every year, this event brings us together, and Hittsville NEXT has taken it to another level!”
The event featured a majestic 60-foot-tall Christmas tree, aglow with thousands of lights, serving as the centerpiece for the celebrations. Families and friends gathered to enjoy performances, warm drinks, and the joyous atmosphere that only Detroit knows how to provide.
The evening concluded with a spectacular light display and a fireworks show, illuminating the Detroit skyline and leaving attendees with memories to cherish as they head into the holiday season.
