A similar theft occurred on June 3rd, less than four miles away. In that incident, a thief stole an Apple Watch moments after it was delivered. The thief seems to have knowledge of what packages are being delivered, as they often target electronics such as iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. The police report revealed that a brand new iPhone was found in the thief’s car, with the VIN number covered and a blacked-out license plate. The thief had a slide or curtain mechanism in the car, indicating they were prepared for such thefts. The vehicle is registered to a person of interest in another case. The Landrums have surveillance cameras, but a lapse in their cloud service meant this theft was not captured. They expressed feelings of violation and fear due to the theft. The company from which they purchased the iPad has agreed to replace it. The police are still searching for the suspect involved in these thefts. The Landrums have decided to require signatures for any future package deliveries to prevent further incidents.Previous Incident Caught on Camera
