AUSTIN — On tomorrow, Friday, October 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the King-Seabrook Chapel, Huston-Tillotson University will crown its 2018-2019 Mister and Miss Huston-Tillotson University in a coronation themed “A Black and White Affair.”

Miss Huston-Tillotson University Kiera Percy is a native of Canton, Mississippi, majoring in music education.  She aspires to become a music therapist.  Mister Huston-Tillotson University Oluwaseyi “Seyi” Adediwura is a native of Ekiti, Nigeria, majoring in mathematics/pre-engineering.  He aspires to become a data analyst/scientist and ultimately, CEO of a Fortune 500 Technology Company and return to Nigeria to start a technology nonprofit for young people interested in technology.

The coronation continues Huston-Tillotson’s tradition of selecting exemplary student leaders and formally crowning them King and Queen following a late spring campus competition that lifted Percy and Adediwura to the titles.

“Mister Oluwaseyi Adediwura and Miss Kiera C. Percy are exceptionally talented, gifted, and brilliant young people who more than exemplify the high qualities we expect of our Huston-Tillotson University Rams,” shared Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette, President and CEO.  “It has been more than a blessing to watch them bloom into individuals that inspire the entire campus.  Their work throughout the community, engagement in their education, and dedication to the overall mission of Huston-Tillotson University are greatly appreciated.”

For Percy,

“That decision transformed me from a boy without a vision to the visionary I see myself as today. I not only serve as Mr. Huston-Tillotson University, but I am a software engineer who plays the saxophone.  Huston- Tillotson University allowed me to pursue and excel in my career as a software engineer while pursuing my passion as a saxophonist.  The University molded me into the determined individual I am today, and the desire to give back is why I decided to run for this title.”

The public is invited to share in the evening of royalty tomorrow.  There is no charge to attend the event.
