With Erykah Badu hosting and making a declaration that no rap music would be allowed at this year’s Soul Train Music Awards, the night was set for R&B to shine. It shined in a major way and it was much appreciated by the viewers. I haven’t witnessed that many positive comments about an awards show since 1999 when Chris Rock hosted the MTV Video Music Awards.The Soul Train Music Awards telecast was great from beginning to end. Erykah Badu did a phenomenal job at hosting, the Babyface tribute was amazing, and everyone seemed to be having an awesome time as the love, peace, and soul were apparent. One of the highlights of the evening was the Soul Cypher.
