iHeartMedia San Francisco Names Sharon “Shay” Frank PD of KMEL-FM

iHeartMedia San Francisco announced today that Sharon “Shay” Frank has been named Program Director of 106.1 KMEL, #1 for Hip Hop and R&B in the Bay Area, effective immediately. She will still be hosting Middays, Monday-Friday as well.

iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Program Director, Shay will be responsible for programming, social and digital strategy, and she’ll still be heard from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on KMEL.

“Shay’s deep knowledge and passion for the bay area community and culture, along with her extensive overall skills make her the perfect leader for this iconic radio station,” said Gene Romano, iHeartMedia Executive Vice President of Programming.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Shay began her journey at 106.1 KMEL as an intern while attending UC Berkeley. After graduating, she held positions in promotions and on-air, ultimately becoming music director in 2013.
