Inside Sony Music Publishing Poland’s Landmark 20-Year Anniversary Event

Sony Music Publishing Poland marked its 20th anniversary with a special celebration, commemorating two decades of industry leadership, chart-topping success, and impressive growth in the Polish music scene.

The event took place with the attendance of several international teams, including Jon Platt, Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Publishing, and Guy Henderson, President, International. Henderson, a key figure in the establishment of the company’s Polish office in 2005, joined the festivities to honor the milestone.

Anna Laskowska, the Managing Director of Sony Music Publishing Poland, delivered a powerful speech reflecting on the company’s journey, from its humble beginnings to its current dominance in the Polish music market.

Laskowska also highlighted the company’s remarkable achievement of holding the #1 position on the Polish Spotify Chart for the past year, fueled by the success of local talent like MATA, Sobel, Francis & Deemz, Bambi, Pezet, and Young Leosia. These artists have made waves with hit songs such as “Lloret de Mar”, “Kochasz”, “Czemu Nie Śpisz”, and “Przester”.

A key focus of the celebration was Sony Music Publishing Poland’s record-breaking streaming market share, particularly in Q2 2025. This success, which can largely be attributed to Polish repertoire, was hailed by Laskowska as a testament to the team’s dedication and passion. “Every song we publish carries the trust our songwriters place in us,” she said.

Włodzimierz Szadziński, Director of A&R & Synchronization at Sony Music Publishing Poland, also spoke about the company’s commitment to supporting songwriters and composers both locally and globally.

His words emphasized the importance of creative development, strategic partnerships, and fostering a global reach to help local talent thrive in an ever-evolving music industry.

The anniversary event also recognized three outstanding local creatives. Ryszard Kunce, a prominent Polish lyricist, Szymon Wysocki, a leading composer for advertising, TV, film, and children’s productions, and Wojciech Sosnowski (Sokół), a multi-platinum hip-hop artist, were honored with personalized awards, presented by Jon Platt.

The celebration featured a live performance by BEMY and was attended by notable figures from Poland’s music scene, including Michał Urbaniak, Malik Montana, Blanka, and Jungleboi. Earlier in the day, Platt, Henderson, and the SMP Poland team gathered with local songwriters for a creative roundtable, discussing the future of Polish music.

Guy Henderson praised the success of SMP Poland, noting how the company has transformed from having no local catalog to holding more than 40% of the local chart share today. He credited Anna Laskowska and her team for the extraordinary work they have done to help build the company’s impressive reputation.

Founded in 2005, Sony Music Publishing Poland now represents songwriters from across Central and Eastern Europe, including countries like the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

With renowned artists like Taco Hemingway, Mata, Sobel, Bambi, and Young Leosia in its roster, the company has solidified its place as a key player in the music industry. In recent years, the Polish music market has seen significant growth, with Poland ranking as one of the fastest-growing territories in the EU, according to IFPI’s Music in the EU 2025 report.
