Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) has elected Jennifer Kelly as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. Kelly became the General Manager and Vice President of Trust and Safety at Upwork in April.
“We’re so pleased to welcome Jennifer to the board of trustees,” said Jean Taylor, CEO of MPR and American Public Media Group. “Her background of service and leadership will serve us well, as will her depth of knowledge in the complex digital landscape in which we operate.”
Kelly was raised in Minnesota and is a longtime public media enthusiast.
“I grew up listening to MPR and other APMG programming,” she said. “It has always represented the gold standard of media for me, so it is an honor to join the Board of Trustees. I am excited to bring my perspective to the organization.”
Kelly previously held leadership roles in trust and safety at Etsy, PayPal and Citi. She has over a decade of experience managing and mitigating regulatory and brand risk across various domains, including financial crimes, content moderation, investigations, seller verification, intellectual property, product safety, legal notice and takedown, and feature vetting.
She became a member of the Integrity Institute, which aims to foster a more socially responsible internet, in February of 2024, serves on the St. Paul Chapter of Moms Demand Action, and previously volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters NYC and PayPal Gives.
Kelly attended Breck School and Hamilton College and was named a Fulbright Scholar by the US State Department in 2010. She earned her JD at Fordham University School of Law. She recently returned to the Mac-Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul to be closer to her family. She has two young children.
