**Join Us in Detroit for the Black Men’s Mental Health Conference!**
This weekend, the heart of Detroit will host a powerful gathering aimed at addressing an urgent issue within the African American community. The Black Men’s Mental Health Conference, founded by the compassionate and driven Dr. Camillia Harris, takes place on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at TechTown Detroit.
In recent years, the conversation around mental health has become more prominent, but specific challenges still persist, particularly among Black men. Dr. Harris, who championed this initiative, highlighted the need for accessible resources and open dialogue about mental well-being. In an exclusive interview with Local 4, she said, “This conference is not just about awareness; it’s about breaking the stigma. We need to create safe spaces where Black men can share their experiences and seek the help they deserve.”
The event will feature a range of esteemed speakers, workshops, and panel discussions aimed at enlightening attendees about mental health issues that disproportionately affect Black men, such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with mental health professionals, learn coping mechanisms, and engage in community-building activities.
“We’re calling on men from all walks of life to come together, share their stories, and support one another,” Dr. Harris added. “This is not just an event; it’s a movement towards healing and empowerment.”
Community members, advocates, and those interested in gaining insight into mental health are encouraged to attend. Let’s unite this Saturday in Detroit to uplift voices, foster understanding, and champion mental wellness for Black men. Together, we can pave the way for a healthier future.
