ASCAP Vice President of Creative Services, Rhythm & Soul/Urban Nicole George-Middleton has announced the promotion of Jonathan “JJ” Jones to Director of Creative Services, Rhythm & Soul/Urban. In his new role, he will continue to be responsible for discovering and signing songwriters and producers, developing talent, establishing and maintaining relationships with current members and programming events, showcases and educational panels.Commenting on the promotion, George-Middleton said: “JJ has played a key role in the continued growth of the Rhythm & Soul Department’s market share. His ability to identify talent early on is a definite asset. I am thrilled to recognize his achievements with this promotion.”Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jonathan “JJ” Jones currently resides in New York City and has been with ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul/Urban department since 2010. After graduating from Morehouse College with a degree in Political Science, he worked for the Aphilliates Music Group in Atlanta, GA. Upon moving to New York, he landed a job with Sony Music-Epic Records. At ASCAP, Jones most recently held the title of Associate Director of Creative Services, Rhythm & Soul/Urban. He reports directly to George-Middleton.
