Today, Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas unveiled his new single “Best For Me” featuring Jelly Roll, which can be streamed HERE. The collaboration shines a powerful message on the importance of supporting loved ones battling substance abuse and addiction and lends a voice to those suffering in silence.
With Jelly’s vulnerable lyrics, “How can you love someone and learn to let them go?” and Joyner’s poignant bars, “I wanna just tell you I love you in case that you really don’t hear it as much,” the duo encourages struggling individuals to seek help while reminding others around them to offer love, support and compassion. The single will appear on Joyner’s new album, Not Now I’m Busy, which will be released on March 22 – PRE-SAVE HERE.
Joyner also unveiled the corresponding music video for “Best For Me,” which you can watch HERE and just premiered on MTV’s Billboard in Times Square in New York City. The self-directed visual depicts Joyner processing the death of a friend who had been struggling with an addiction to drugs. Jelly also makes his appearance in the video, as he delivers dynamic vocals to amplify the heart-wrenching message.
The video closes with the call-to-action for individuals grappling with substance abuse to text “Best For Me” to 508-507-2209 and highlights Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reversing the addiction crisis in the United States.
Both Joyner and Jelly have been strong advocates for mental health and wellness. Throughout his career, Joyner has tackled various societal issues in his music and, most notably, sparked a much-needed conversation about mental health with his last album, ADHD. Meanwhile, Jelly has openly discussed his past battles with addiction in interviews and via his artistic storytelling.
Joyner’s new single comes on the heels of his “Not Now I’m Busy” headlining tour announcement – a 24-city trek that will kick off on May 11 in Minneapolis at Uptown Theater and will include special appearances from rappers Millyz and Dax. Tickets are currently available for purchase HERE.
With “Best For Me,” is the latest in a string of releases from Joyner’s forthcoming new album, coming after previous hard-hitting releases such as “Sticks & Stones (feat. Conway The Machine), “Seventeen,” “Broski,” “24 Hours to live” and “Cut U Off (feat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again).”
