Ke$ha, who the New York Times referred to as a “double threat”, released her debut album “Animal” (RCA Records / Kemosabe Entertainment) earlier this week and is it holding strong as the #1 album on iTunes. Ke$ha performed “TiK ToK” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien this week and has performances on Lopez Tonight, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Wendy Williams next week. Conan O’Brien called her “the first breakout star of 2010”, Rolling Stone said that Animal was “Ridiculously catchy…” and People Magazine said “This high octane debut could keep any basement party pumping like Studio 54.”
Since being released to radio in early October, “TiK ToK” is the No. 1 greatest airplay gainer at Top 40, outpacing smash singles by Jay-Z and Taylor Swift. The track has sold more than 2.4 million copies since its release on iTunes, while the accompanying video was an iTunes “Video of the Week” in early November and remained in the iTunes video Top 10 since then. Internationally, “TiK ToK” has topped the singles charts in 3 countries and has hit the Top 10 on iTunes in 18 countries thus far. Ke$ha currently holds the Canadian record for the biggest track sales by week of any artist in history.
