Industry vet Ken Johnson has exited Cumulus as the VP of Urban Programming. He was based in NYC. Sources state that the station, which features The Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS) as well as D.L. Hughley show, is very difficult to program in the number one market with its limited signal. We’re not sure if this is the reason for Johnson’s departure or if it’s corporate downsizing since the company also parted ways with industry vet Mike McVay recently. Johnson has a lenghty career as a PD that includes stops in Dallas, Atlana, Birmingham and more. He also has experience in syndication. We wish him the best as we do all of those in our industry when they are seeking a new opportunity.
