Kobalt Signs Global Publishing Deal with UK Band South Arcade

Kobalt, the largest independent music publisher in the world, announced today they have signed South Arcade, a band that recently came onto the scene in a major way, driven by over 20 million streams across their debut EP (released in December) and almost 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, plus a daytime playlist at BBC Radio 1 and a show at London’s KOKO that sold out almost immediately.

Kobalt Signs Global Publishing Deal with UK Band South Arcade

“We could not be happier to welcome South Arcade to the Kobalt Family,” said Kenny McGoff, Kobalt’s Head of Creative, UK and GSA. “The songs and talent match up to explode with energy and life. The global reach has fully started and we can’t wait to be along for the ride. Big shout to Ben Karter for believing in us as much as we do in all things South Arcade.”

South Arcade lead singer and co-songwriter, Harmony Scott-Russell commented, “We’re stoked to be working with Kobalt because they really get what we’re about. As gamers and movie lovers, we know how much music shapes culture – we’ve discovered some of our favourite songs through soundtracks. Can’t wait to see where our music ends up!”

After forming in 2021, South Arcade are taking the UK alternative scene by storm. The band has had multiple sold-out headline shows over the last year. With a growing fanbase and reputation for their energetic performances, the band have supported the likes of Dead PonyRØRY and Yours Truly. The Oxford-based band have received incredible support at radio, including plays on Radio 1 shows’ Jack Saunders Future ArtistsNels Hylton Future Alternative and were picked as Alyx Holcombe’s Track Of The Week with the single “Change Your Mind.”

South Arcade manager Ben Karter said, “South Arcade are one of the most exciting new bands in years, and their songwriting is a huge part of what makes them special. Kenny, MillerMelissa, and the team at Kobalt truly understood the band’s vision and music, rather than just buying into their data.”

Miller Williams, Kobalt’s Senior Vice President of Creative in London commented: “I was convinced at my first South Arcade gig.  Huge potential, great anthemic songs, excellent musicians, top class vocals, and songs that will resonate with a worldwide audience”

Melissa Emert-Hutner, Kobalt’s Senior Vice President of Creative in New York said: “South Arcade embodies everything that draws me to an artist – immense talent, unwavering drive, and incredibly catchy songs. I’m truly honored to be working with them and their team, and I’m excited for the amazing things the future holds for them on a global scale.”
