Sculptor Dan Medina constructed a 160-pound bronze statue of Kobe and Gianna Bryant at the crash site where they died on Jan.26, 2020, in Calabasas, California, along with seven other passengers.
The names of the seven other victims are engraved on the plaque at the base of the statue. Those victims were, John Altobelli and his wife Keri, their daughter Alyssa, Ara Zobayan, Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester, and her daughter Payton. Payton and Alyssa were both Gianna’s teammates.
The statue shows Gianna and Kobe wearing basketball uniforms while their attention is fixed on each other. Kobe’s hand is on Gianna’s shoulder as she holds a basketball. The plaque quotes “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.”
