iHeartMedia St. Louis and Indianapolis announced today a leadership transition as seasoned media veteran, John Beck, serving as Market and Area President for nearly four years, embarks on the next chapter of his career.

“I want to sincerely thank all of my colleagues, St. Louis and Indy leaders, and iHeart corporate leadership for giving me a chance to make a difference in St. Louis and Indianapolis,” said Beck. “It has been an amazing four years full of accomplishments. I will truly miss working with my iHeart family. I will now have more time to devote to my own family, consulting business, legislative advocacy and the various charities civic organizations that mean so much to me.”

Following a distinguished broadcasting career with more than 40 years of radio industry experience, Beck will continue operating his media consulting service, John Beck Media Strategies. He will also remain a trustee of the National Association of Broadcasters Political Action Committee (NABPAC), Legislative Chair of the Missouri Broadcasters Association, along with other charitable and civic involvements.

Beck began his career at WFFM in Pittsburgh, later joining CBS in Detroit and then serving as Vice President and General Manager for KKCI in Kansas City. He came to St. Louis in 1984 to be Senior Vice President and General Manager for KSHE and The Point before joining iHeartMedia.

An active voice in the broadcasting industry, Beck served as the President of the Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) from 1999-2000 and currently chairs its Legislative Affairs Committee. He has also served on the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Board and sat on the NAB Executive Committee as the Radio Board First Vice-Chair from 2012 through 2014. Beck remains a trustee on the NAB Political Action Committee.

Throughout his esteemed decades-long career, Beck has been honored with an array of awards, including being named one of America’s Top 10 Radio Managers by Radio Ink Magazine and receiving a Distinguished Broadcaster Award from the Missouri Broadcasters Association in 2002. He was named The Radio Wayne Market Manager of the Year by the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), inducted into the St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame in 2017 and received the 2017 Chairman’s award by the NABPAC and Lifetime Achievement Award by Heat-Up & Cool-Down St. Louis.

In addition, Beck is deeply involved in his community, working closely with numerous nonprofit organizations. He has also served on the board and supported the St. Louis Regional Chamber, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The American Red Cross, Heat-Up & Cool Down St. Louis, The Foundation Board of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, the Magic House, Grace Hill, Character-Plus, the Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District and the March of Dimes. He currently serves on the Civic Pride Foundation Board for Explore St. Louis, The Urban League of St. Louis and The Boys & Girls Club of St. Louis.
