Today Sony released their fiscal Q1 (calendar Q2) results. Streaming revenues for Sony’s recorded music operation got a boost of 26.5% at the end of June to 605 million largely attributed to Columbia’s now record-breaking signee Lis Nas X, who’s first major release “Old Town Road” is officially the longest #1 single on Billboard’s Top 100 chart. If you can imagine this is basically close to 7 million A DAY. UMG generated around 10.4 million a day in Q2 and it’s estimated all of the music behemoths (Warner is not in yet) generated close to 20 million each day.
