Lykkie Li’s Inaugural YOLA DÍA Festival, held at LA Historic State Park last Sunday, August 18th, was the first women’s festival to hit L.A.in 20 years.
In a society where women have a hard time getting fair treatment on festival bills or deserving headlining spots, Yola Día is taking the woman-made festival one step further.
Yola Día Festival is a rare practice in modern festival custom. Better than slowly mixing more women into a list. This festival is focusing its mission on women.
Renowned activist Dolores Huerta, who unveiled an art installation of one-of-a-kind flags that were auctioned off to benefit the ACLU, started the day with a speech.
The rest of the day include performances by female artists Lykke Li selected herself. They are: Lia Ices, CupcakKe, Empress Of, Kelsey Lu, Megan Thee Stallion, Courtney Love & The Chateau Band, SOPHIE, Cat Power.
The Lykkie Li’s Inaugural YOLA DÍA Festival ended with Lykke Li thrilling the audience with a dance party on stage.
