It is an incredibly horrific twist of fate that a 26-year-old man named Diniar Camp, was visiting Philadelphia after leaving because of the increasing gun violence to attend the funeral of a friend. Then he himself was shot and killed.
He was shot multiple times on North 19th street in Philadelphia. But that’s not the end of the story. His friend who was murdered once sang for former President Barack Obama during a trip to Philly, and the group he was in was called “Brotherly Love.” His name was Jaelill Foy.
Foy had also left Philly because of increasing gun violence and had moved to the west coast. Upon visiting his family in South Philadelphia, he was also shot and killed. Foy was the father of two with another child on the way.
The group disbanded and had not performed in several years. A suspect has been apprehended, 22-year-old Marcus Whitehead.
Camp’s mother Kathi Camp states: “It hurts me, and I cannot sleep, I can’t eat, I can’t do nothing without my angel,” Kathi said. “I’ll never hear his voice again.” There have been 337 deaths from homicide in Philadelphia this year.
