Spatz, a seasoned radio host with deep roots in Northeast Ohio, will host weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET. Matt Spatz to Take Over Cleveland's 98.5 WNCX Morning Show

In his announcement, Nard, Brand Manager at 98.5 WNCX, praised Slats for his immense contribution to the station. “Slats is a true Cleveland legend, and we can’t thank him enough for being the rock of our mornings for so long. We are thrilled to have Spatz bring his dynamic energy and passion for rock music to this important legacy. We’re confident in his ability to connect with our listeners and excited about how he will shape mornings on WNCX.”

Slats, reflecting on his career, said, “21 years in Cleveland, 14 years at WNCX, and it’s been an honor and a privilege. I’ll see ya around… Avon, OH-IO.”

For Spatz, this new role is a dream come true. “Having the opportunity to take the morning reins from Slats at WNCX in my hometown is truly a dream,” he said. “I’m grateful to the Audacy Cleveland team for their trust and belief in me. Can’t wait to get started!”

Spatz, a Berea native, most recently hosted the morning show at WONE Akron while also serving as Program Director for the Rubber City Radio Group. He has worked at prominent stations across Northeast Ohio and Virginia, holding various Program Director roles with Cumulus Media and Clear Channel Communications since the 1990s.

To mark Slats’ retirement, he will host “Slats Final Bow Wow,” a special event benefiting the Friendship Animal Protection League, a non-profit helping animals find forever homes.
